September break in the Yorkshire Dales

Travelling north through very wet and windy weather we finally reached West Witton in the famous Wensleydale area of Yorkshire. The following three days however brought bright and breezy conditions which were ideal for our trecks through the hills and river valleys around West Burton and Aysgarth as well as a memorable hike to the top of Buckden Pike (702m).If you'd like to see some of the photos I took please click on either of the scenes above right. Last Spring we travelled to Vancouver Island. I thought it was much smaller than it is (took us a couple of days to drive the length of it). VI is mostly beautiful wilderness, National Parks, ancient forests and the most dramatic beaches I have ever seen, interrupted only by scenic towns and inspirational cities. Hospitality courtesy of Maureen and Steve included guided walks, the best 'Trail Mix' ever and a Jacuzzi unders the stars... what lucky boy I am!

Last summer (2005) I was invited to photograph a corporate day on the Solent. Not only did it turn out to be the hottest day of the year it was the most fun I've had with my trousers on for a long long time! By the way that yacht was a s fast as the racing boats even with a fully laden bar! The race over to the Isle of Wight was an alternative to 'spoofing for a round of drinks'... last one into Cowes paid the bill!!!

Walking in the Picos de Europa National Park we experienced a wide range of terrains. Uphill and downdale we went, through beautiful valleys and deserted villages languishing in shady glades. The scenery was only bettered by our companions and the wonderful walks, accommodation, food and drink organised by our superb hosts for the week - Barry and Kate (Pico Verde Walking Holidays)... highly recommended!
